Throughout the last couple of months, local daycare and preschool providers had the opportunity to participate in a free training called I am Moving, I am Learning. Through this training, they received the skills and resources to get the young children in their care up and active.
This training was offered to all local daycare and preschool providers that have been participating in the Statewide Health Improvement Program and making policy, systems and environmental changes in their own environment to make it easier for the children in their care to be active.

Through SHIP, schools in Sibley County have access to a unique resource to help them grow their farm-to-school program. Casey Walters is working as a local forager, available to area schools participating in SHIP. A farm-to-school forager is someone who can help the schools find locally grown foods to serve in their school food programs. We are excited to have Casey on board with SHIP through June 30, 2011.
While Casey is with us, she is also creating a directory of local farmers interested in selling their products to schools. If you are intersted in being a part of this directory, please contact Casey at rick0152@umn.edu .
