Lunch and Learn: Crossroads-the Intersection of Non-Fatal Strangulation with Intimate Partner, Domestic, and Sexual Violence

Lunch will be provided. Please plan on arriving early as presentation will start promptly at noon.

There is no charge to attend.


At the end of this workshop attendees should be able to:

  • Describe the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to strangulation
  • Describe the different mechanisms of strangulation
  • Identify the unrecognized consequences of strangulation
  • Describe the potential lethality of non-fatal strangulation
  • Increase the identification of the subtle signs and symptoms of strangulation
  • Improve the documentation and collection of evidence
  • Identify the anatomy of the human neck


Linda Walther RN, SANE-A, SANE-P

Linda is the Clinical Coordinator for the Statewide Medical Forensic Policy Program

SVJI@MNCASA. Linda has been a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for 10 years. In addition to her work at MNCASA, Linda works with the HCMC Sexual Assault Resource Service program and the Regions Hospital SANE team. She has served on the Hennepin County and Rice County Sexual Assault Multi-Disciplinary Action Response Teams. She has provided multiple presentations for law enforcement agencies, college campuses, and a variety of other community agencies on topics regarding sexual assault and strangulation.
