We have spent the last few months putting together some exercises in our “Focus On” series.  The knee push-up is the final exercise for us to review and learn before we put this all together in a full strength workout.

First off, please review this exercise description of the knee push-up from Ace Fitness.  Now, let’s review some fine tuning tips of the knee push-up to make sure you are set up for success when completing this exercise:

  • Keep your hands directly under your shoulders.  It is very easy to let them creep forward, which will put extra stress on your shoulders.  Keep them planted under the shoulders.
  • Imagine you have a dowel running from your head down to your glutes.  This will help you keep a straight line in your back from your knees up through your head.
  • Brace your abdominals like you are about to take a punch to the stomach.  This brace will keep you stable, and help you get out of the bottom position of the push-up.
  • Keep your elbows in close to your sides or only slightly flared out to the sides.
